Northern Ohio Division USFA Schedule
OFFICIAL NOD 2006-2007 Tournament Information
Regulation USFA fencing uniforms are required for all competitions. This
includes fencing plastron, jacket, knickers (not sweats or baseball pants),
glove, socks that cover the shins, and breast protectors for females.
All competitors must be USFA members. Non-members may purchase USFA membership
at any USFA tournament for $50.00.
The times listed in the schedule mark the end of registration. Usually,
the event will start 15-20 minutes after the close of registration.
Questions about NOD events may be directed to William Reith at (216) 381-0669. Phone messages will be returned within 24 hours.
All NOD tournaments cost for adults $15.00 for the first event and $10.00
for each additional event, Fencers 15 and under $10.00 for the first event
and $5.00 thereafter.
Contact the host of Non-NOD organized events.
Admission to the viewing public is free.
Keep close attention to websites and forums for new information and updates. The NOD is sponsoring fewer tournaments this year, however, we are encouraging Clubs to host and run their own tournaments.
Any USFA/NOD CLUB may rent NOD equipment (at a cost of $20 per set or $150 for eight sets) for a club event. Equipment may be picked up 1 week in advance from the armourer and returned the week following the event to the armourer. (Contact information for the Armourer: William Reith Phone: (216)-381-0669, Address: 1474 Crest Rd. Cleveland Heights 44121.) Equpiment Rental Form must be signed and Tournament Report Form returned with the tournament information. If we know far enough in advance of your event, it will be published on the website and in the newsletter. This gives Clubs a chance to make money to support their fencing programs and activities.
FIE Rules changes for the 2005-2006 season
All divisional, sectional, and collegiate competitions can be run using either the old or the new timing, but the timing must be the same on every strip at the competition. Information about the timing used at any competition should be published before the event.
PLEASE NOTE: For the NOD - "all scoring machines will be the NEW timing".

FROM LOT A to EPPLER
COMPLEX Eppler is North of Lot A. As you pull into Lot A directly in front
of you (across the parking lot from the light) is a wide pedestrian walkway
between two buildings (University Hall on left and Centrex Building on
right). Go between the two buildings walking North toward Eppler. Go past
the Education building on your right and as you begin to pass the grassy
Union Oval on your left Eppler will be there on your right. The Eppler
complex is broken into three sections: South, Center, and North. There
will be signs posted as to what doors to use and how to get to the correct
gymnasium.

Summit Street. Stay on Summit Street to the 6th traffic light. The Student

Rt. 44 North (exit #200). Follow to Rt. 84, which is the first exit. There
will be a sign for Lake Erie College before the exit. At the end of the
ramp you will turn right and make an immediate left (in about 10 feet)
onto Chestnut St (it is at a traffic light). At the end of Chestnut St.
turn right onto Rt. 20 (AKA Mentor Ave). At the second traffic light bear
right onto W. Washington St. Take the first right onto Gillett St. The
gym and parking lot will be on the right just before the traffic light
at the end of Gillett St.
The college is currently building a new gym, and as the old parking lot
is under the new gym, parking for the tournament will be in the LEC Fine
Arts parking lot (on the right on Gillett St). There is a sign for Phillips
Osbourne school above the LEC sign. Following the path on the left side
of the parking lot will bring you to the gym.
Mercyhurst Prep (MPS), 538 East Grandview Blvd,

I-90 exit #29 (old exit 8) to PA Rt. 8 North. Follow Rt. 8 North to 3rd
traffic light and turn left onto E. Grandview (Country Fair convenience
store on one corner, Kmart on the other). Proceed about 1 mile, MPS will
be on right side. As you face the building, the gym will be the entrance
on the right. Signs will be posted.

From I-480 : Take I-480 West to Lorain Road Exit (Past Great Northern Blvd and Stearns Rd exits). Turn left onto Lorain Road. At Lear Nagle (BP at corner) turn right onto Lear Nagle. Follow Lear Nagle to Center Ridge. At Center Ridge Road turn left. Follow Center Ridge Road for 7 lights. Middle School is on left side of street between St Peter’s Church and the BP Station. Exit turnpike at exit 152. Follow signs for Oberlin (RT 10 West). Turn
right at first light onto Root Road. Follow Root Road north until it ends
on Center Ridge Road. Turn left onto Center Ridge Road. Middle School
is on left side of street between St Peter’s Church and the BP Station.
Turn left into North Ridgeville Middle School driveway. Gym entrance doors
are towards back of parking lot.

Gym: I couldn't find a street address. It is at the
intersection of Woodland and Union Streets.
Oberlin College Oberlin, Ohio. (NOTE: Most tournaments are held at
Hales Gym. The Oberlin Fencing Club meets at Phillips Gym.)
Oberlin College:

Take I-480 west, follow Route 10 west. Exit on Route 511. Follow 511
west into Oberlin. Pass Tappan Square Park and Woodland Avenue. Hales
Gym
is on the right side of Lorain St., just past Woodland. The gym is next
to Oberlin Clinic (Hospital).
Oberlin College: Phillips Gym, I-480 west, follow Route 10 west. Exit
on Route 511. Follow 511 west into Oberlin. Pass Tappan Square Park.
Turn right onto Woodland Avenue. Phillips Gym is on the left at the
intersection of Woodland and Union Streets. Fencing Room is on 2nd floor.

From East of Rocky River take I-90 to the Hilliard Rd exit. At the light, take a right onto Westway. Take Westway to Wager which is 3 lights down. Take a right onto Wager. This will take you across I-90. After you've crossed over I-90, take a left into the Ameritech drive way. The drive way is the St. Thomas Lutheran School parking lot. If you miss the driveway, don't fret. The next light is Detroit, take a left turn onto Detroit. You will see St. Thomas Lutheran Church and School on your left.
From the West of Rocky River: Take I-90 east to the Detroit Rd exit. Take a left onto Detroit Rd. The school and church are on your right, 1/4 of a mile down the road.
